EDSIGCON/CONISAR Conferences Chair

As the 2016 Conference Chair, it is my honor to welcome you to the AITP Education Special Interest Group (EDSIG) Conference and the Conference on Information Systems Applied Research (CONISAR) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since the early 1980's, AITP-EDSIG members have helped to advance education and applied research in Information Systems and Computing by helping to support conferences and journals. This marks the 2nd year that EDSIG has organized its joint conferences with ISCAP (Information Systems & Computing Academic Professionals, Inc.). These two conferences act as pathways to the Information Systems Education Journal (ISEDJ) and Journal of Information Systems Applied Research (JISAR) as well as the Journal of Information Systems Education (JISE).

This year we are fortunate to have support from NetApp, IBM, UNCW, EMC, MyEducator, Pega Systems, Wiley, Prospect Press and Murach Books. Without corporate and industry sponsors, running a quality conference would not be possible. I encourage participants to visit our sponsors during the session breaks to learn about the ways different products and services can improve our teaching.

This year's conference would not be possible without the help of a talented group of volunteers that include Michelle Louch, Karen L. Paullet, Therese O'Neil, Ulku Yaylacicegi Clark, J. Packy Laverty, James J. Pomykalski, Bruce Saulnier, Ron Babin, Bill Tastle, Li-Jen Shannon, Neelima Bhatnagar, Jeffry Babb, Jeff Cummings, Biswadip Ghosh, Anthony Serapiglia, Cameron Lawrence, Scott Hunsinger, and Wendy A. Ceccucci. We owe special gratitude to two volunteers; Muhammed Miah and Peter Wu who are the two Papers Chairs that helped coordinate the review process of over 100 submitted works.

The EDSIG Conference and CONISAR draw educators and professionals from all over the world to share ideas, innovations and strategies including pedagogy, curricula, assessment, and classroom/laboratory/distance education as well as applied research in the IS/CS/IT industry. Through a peer-review process, we have all helped to improve the papers, case studies, works-in-progress, panel presentations and workshops that comprise this year's outstanding conference program. I wish to express my personal gratitude to those who have worked tirelessly to develop, submit, and revise the scholarly work that have made this conference and the ones before it so valuable to educators and academic professionals.
